Andrew Baxter
I am a conservative. I am not an ideologue, a zealot, or a huckster. I have nothing to sell you. No, quite simply, I am a conservative. I believe in change. I do, honestly. But I think we should think things through a little bit more than we currently do. I do not believe that technology is in and of itself a boon, nor do I agree that progress can be measured in simple economic terms.
I believe that old form sacrificed in the name of (post)modernity is exactly that, a sacrifice. I believe that ritual and tradition are as – if not more – important to our societies and their stability than they have ever been, and that the further we move from them, the further we move away from who we are.
(Andrew did a double major undergradute degree in history and political science, and just graduated from Simon Fraser University with a graduate degree in Urban Studies).
