I'm still busy this week trying to work on my project around structures of consciousness, so another short post is in order. I've been saving this great lecture by Joseph Campbell on the chakras, and after Chris and Devin had a discussion around chakras on Chris' piece Shamanism in Integral Thought, I thought posting it this week was as good a time as any.

I'm sure most readers of this site don't need much of an introduction to Campbell, but I don't know how many folks have seen Campbell beyond the Power of Myth series he did with Bill Moyers (which was great). There are two lecture series of Campbell's that were filmed (maybe more), one called Mythos and the other Transformations of Myth Through Time, and in both you really get to see Campbell show his chops as a scholar with great breadth and depth. As someone who studied philosophy, I appreciate how good a grasp Campbell has on figures such as Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Kant, and how he weaves nuggets from these thinkers (and others) with his vast study of myth and religion. Other than that I don't have much to say about the video, it's just really interesting and rich stuff and makes for quality viewing. If anyone is struck by a particular part or insight, or has a beef with something along the way, by all means, throw it out there. In the meantime, enjoy this romp through the chakras with JC.
