Just a short Sacred Sundays post today to let folks know about Rev. Bruce Sanguin's new book of sermons that was officially published/launched today, called The Advance of Love: Reading the Bible with an 
Evolutionary Heart. If you don't know Bruce's work, we've had the good fortune of having him with us at the site from the beginning, as writer and commenter and collaborator and wise friend on the journey. We just recently published his essay What is Evolutionary Christianity?, which gives an account of his theology as it's being preached and practiced at Canadian Memorial United Church in Vancouver.
The collection of sermons in Advance of Love are from the last several years and were chosen with the help of the congregation, who formed mini-groups (of which I was in one) to read sermons together and choose which ones stood out as being most worthy of inclusion in this special volume. These were hard decisions to make as Bruce has been on remarkably consistent fire over the past three years that I've been there, cracking out doubles and triples and homers too on a weekly basis without fail. It's impressive to watch, but more than that, it's been a huge gift to receive. Bruce's message, intelligence, heart and obvious commitment to serving Thy Will, has profoundly changed my life, and I invariably leave church on Sunday filled with a passion to grow and evolve and give my heart and soul (as best as possible) to the world. I have little doubt that anyone who's interested in evolutionary Christianity, or really just spirituality in general, will not be similarly moved by this 
collection of writing and what stirs there.
Bruce is donating all the proceeds from this book to Canadian Memorial, and in particular to a new adventure we're all embarking on. Bruce is soon moving to a part time position where he can focus on developing and teaching the practice of evolutionary Christian spirituality, both at CMUC and online and beyond. We've hired a great new full time minister (Rev. Beth Hayward) to take over many of the major duties at the church, and Bruce's new mission as writer and teacher will be integrated into that larger whole.
