Trevor Malkinson

Trevor Malkinson

Trevor grew up in Victoria, BC. He did a double undergraduate degree in philosophy and environmental studies at the University of Victoria, and then did a graduate degree in philosophy at Brock University. He's currently attending the Vancouver School of Theology, with the intention of going into ministry in the United Church of Canada. As a chef by trade, he has a passionate interest in food and in supporting the development of a post-industrial food culture. He also has a passionate interest in evolutionary spirituality, and how the Christian tradition can live anew within this emerging worldview. His major areas of writing interest for Beams and Struts include philosophy, culture, food, sports, spirituality and the environment.

Marx Reloaded

Joining five others, four parts of the Beams team will soon begin a year long study of Karl Marx's Das Kapital, following along to the free online lectures of David Harvey. Apparently we're not the only ones returning to Marx, as a general rebirth of interest in his work is globally underway. American- The Bill Hicks Story

The legendary outlaw comic Bill Hicks- who both Radiohead and Tool dedicated albums to- is the subject of a new documentary. Watch the rousing trailer for that film, and another piece of live Hicks comedy to boot.
