I'm not entirely sure what constitutes the 'sacred' in Sacred Sundays. To be honest, I tend to be rather hesistant when it comes to writing these sorts of things. But hell, I thought that this Sunday morning I'd share something that struck me as pretty special (and maybe even Integral!) when I first saw it. It seemed 'sacred' I suppose in the sense that it transcends the traditional form and meaning of its more common, run-of-the-mill cousins.
In the world of the ski videos, art rarely intrudes beyond some quick editing, a quirky narrator (Yes Warren Miller, I'm looking right at you), and the natural beauty of a snow-covered landscape miles up in the air. The point of the ski video is to get your adranaline pumping, to highlight a group of professional skiers and their particular fearlessness, and to showcase a location.
The following ski video has all of this (except the quirky narrator...but we'll live without one, I think), yet is something more than the sum of its parts: it captures a town, a skier, and a song in perfect harmony. It is a piece of exceptional art.
So, enjoy your Sunday...
