Site Changes to Beams & Struts

Written by
You may noticed things are slightly different visually and structurally around here at Beams.  I thought I'd give a quick mini-guided tour of the changes to the site.

1. Registration for commenting.

We now have a registration system for commenting.  This allows readers to create their own profiles (including avatars).  To register a profile, click the register tab on the bottom bar of any page of the website:

http://www.beamsandstruts.com/register

After registering, you can log-in with your new self-created username and password on the my account page (also in the bottom bar of any page):

http://www.beamsandstruts.com/my-account

No one has to register an account in order to comment, but we highly recommend it.

 2. New Homepage and New Section Coming

The homepage has also been redesigned.  In the main scrolling box at the top of the page are the newest articles on the site. Below that scrolling box are three columns: Newest Essays, Newest Bits & Pieces, and (for right now) Most Popular on B&S.  That third category will soon be replaced by an entirely new page:  Newest Podcasts.  Br. TJ Dawe, currently on retreat with Gabor Mate (that's a whole other story he'll tell us about when he returns I'm sure), will be bringing his most excellent podcast series Totem Figures onto Beams & Struts.  So stay tuned for that one.

We envision a few more changes to the site which will take sometime to get going.  We'll keep you updated when as things go. Thanks, as always, goes to our webdesigner Chris, to my Beams cohort, and to our readers.
